There is an undeveloped potential within the people of Uganda that places a strain on their opportunity for success. The Self-sufficiency program gives individuals the chance to acquire training and skills that will maximize their opportunity for financial freedom and pursuit their dreams.
Uganda remains amongst the least developed countries in the world. The majority of its population lives on less than $1 per day*. The amount it costs to buy a pack of gum in the United States is equivalent to the daily income of an entire household. Evidently, the basic needs for survival in Uganda is practically non-existent.
EACO Uganda implements income-generating activities (IGAs) such as: farming, vegetable growing, coffee growing, cattle keeping, bee-keeping, chicken rearing, piggery, mushroom growing, tailoring and design, arts and crafts, and hair dressing and styling.

Working or Hardly Honey?
Beekeeping is a great source of income in Uganda, yet, the marketing and selling of locally produced honey is not well understood. Local people/farmers have driven the success of the honey industry, however, the sales are not meeting the high level demand. This program informs and instructs individuals on how to construct their own honey bee hives and to produce their own protective head veils and clothing, tools, and hive smokers.
EACO also provides training and individualized instruction in entrepreneurship, as well as, marketing techniques for small businesses and microfinance. Below are the functions found within the Sustainable Agriculture, Training and Development Program:
[ ] Small items of equipment
[ ] Organic and sustainable agricultural techniques
[ ] Establishment of seed banks and support groups for small-scale farmers
